Mayor opens Memorial Garden

Families now have a peaceful place to reflect and remember loved ones in our memorial garden, which was formally opened last month.

On 26 September, the Mayor of Redditch, Jenny Wheeler, was on hand to officially open the Mary Bough Memorial Garden, which was named in memory of Huntleys Funeral Services’ original owner.

Around 30 staff from local charities, nursing homes, ministers and families attended the opening, which was also to celebrate Huntleys’ being in business for an astounding 140 years.
Deputy Regional Development Director Judi Edwards said: “We would like to thank RS Paving & Landscaping and the local charity, Where Next, for each donating a memorial bench. We recently raised £400 for the Where Next Association, so we really appreciated their donation to us.

“Reverend Steve Levett performed a blessing and following a balloon release, which was in memory of all the souls who have passed through Huntleys’ care over the last 140 years, the guests enjoyed a sparkling afternoon tea. The whole celebration was very special.”

Journalists from The Redditch and Alcester Standard also attended the event; if you would like to read the published article please visit https://redditchstandard.co.uk/editions/view/?/Redditch/2017/09/29&064, you will find the story on page 10.
